Doodle #106 : Frozen Fingers, High Pitched Screaming

My take on this might differ from what actually happened, as I'm writing from a pretty dazed state of mind.

This would be the second time I headed up to Genting Highlands within two weeks. It is also the second time I've been up there. Goes to show.

Unlike the previous trip, the scheduled meet time was 12.30PM in the afternoon, as opposed to early morning, and the theme park visit was on the second day. Drove to Monash first to borrow their parking space for a day. Ivan picked me, Jean, Chern and Jason up from there and we headed off to 1U to meet Rachel, Weng and Sujata.

Where does one leave his car at 1U for a whole day you ask? Well, at a certain outdoor parking lot close by, only RM1 per ENTRY. Freakin' cool! Note: Do not and I repeat do NOT park INSIDE, it's calculated per HOUR and there's no cap on it. Anecdote? Ivan (or his friend) parked there one time, and they came back 3 days later. Put the ticket into the machine. And it read..

RM160. THREE DIGITS.

Dawdled a bit around 1U before our departure time. Met up with everyone again ON THE DOT at 1.30PM, heard the buses never wait for people. At all. My mind wanders back to a story I heard not too long back. Worse scenario, yet miraculous execution of a plan to arrive on time.

Coming back to this. We arrived at the cable car station roughly around 2.30PM. This time I'm taking the cable car up. There were 8 of us. Maximum capacity per unit: 8 people. As I like to put it, "Ngam ngam hou" (just nice). Also unlike the first time, we weren't split 2 people per room. Okay, it was like that for the girls. The guys? All 6 of us crammed into one room. 2 single beds for 6 of us. Sleeping arrangements that night were pretty epic.

Pre cable car stress smile.

And so we go.

We were almost at the peak, just roughly 5m away from the netting that extended out of the station when we just stopped. Some epic jerk. The car was SWAYING. I didn't even want to look down, had no idea how high up we were. They had to make some time to help the person in the front car disembark. But dangling several hundred feet in the air with the netting just 5m away from you, not the best of feelings.

Checked in, dropped our luggage and walked about browsing the place.

About 4PM we had to find something to fill our stomachs. Stumbled across a local food court within First World. Prices there weren't that bad at all, the portions were pretty big too.

Went for a short film in the Motion Master 4D. It's like 3D and you were seated in this chair that moved. Swaying side to side.

3D glasses yo'

Then, we began hiking. Yes, we were walking towards.. I could not remember where but it was this ridiculous incline just alongside the escalator from First World Plaza into the Cable Car Station. Only that we were outside.

Ended up outside of these two hotels.

Chui fung, keng sam si.

The 8 of us camped out at this small stand selling durians and drinks for a bit, just enjoying the cool misty breeze. Quite awhile too. Didn't feel like getting my arse of the chair after I planted it down. Lazy much.

Took a stroll into Maxim. The place was.. Magnificent. Rich people hotel. Bahhh. Rm3750 per night for signature suite. Where does one find such money to splurge?!

Found this place inside Maxims, sorta like a museum about Lim Goh Tong, founder of Genting. Pretty cool place. Sorry but I really forgot what the place was called. Pardon my shallow knowledge on people and places. :/

Miniaturized Genting!

They also had a mini cable car display.

After we decided we had walked enough, we went back to our rooms. Mostly.

Managed to get myself a decent cup of coffee. :)

The girls went exploring and the guys (those 21 or over) visited the casino. That leaves just Jason, Weng and I to go back to our room and wait. We picked off where we left off in our previous Monopoly Deal round.

Which reminds me. Back up a bit. When we first checked in, we lingered around our room playing cards and Monopoly Deal. Chor Tai Di, standard card games. It was then I saw a different side of Sam Sifu (Chern). The only thing I can say about it is, I quote "I don't even know whether should I be laughing or just scared."

Picking up where I left off.. I played Jean and Rachel's set of cards too. So in a way I had 3 rounds at my disposal. Technically it gave me an unfair advantage (why would I attack myself) yet SOMEHOW, Weng won. LOL. Epic stuff yo'

When the girls finally returned, we played more Monopoly Deal. Aside from that, we comforted Jean, who was incomplete *cue theme song*. One of the suggestions was just wrong, VERY WRONG, when it was first said.

It was already 7PM by then. Time FLEWWWWW, straight out the window. The casino-goers had returned by then. So we left in search of food. Nomnomnom. Returned to the food court.

Walked even more.

We returned to our rooms for more card games, and the 21s went casino, AGAIN.

So now I had to play correspondent. When the guys all returned (and were all fully clothed), time to let the girls know. They came over.

CUPCAKES!

Birthday surprise ftw. Haha. Nomnom.

I called it a day, while the others left for the durian stand there again, to enjoy the night scene.

Had trouble sleeping. When everyone returned we kept adjusting our sleeping arrangements. Ended up with 3 of us sleeping on the floor, one on each side of the bed.

I found myself awoke at 6am, though I only truly fell asleep around 2am. The floor's nice but I was way too cold to sleep. Feet were freezing. Took a bath and just wandered the hallways then. Came back to the room around 7. Got ready for breakfast, buffet. We only had 2 of the receipts so only 4 of us went. Which was Chern, Rachel, Weng, and I.

Dropped off our luggage for safekeeping at the hotel lobby and checked out. Now? Time for Genting Theme Park!

The fog was unusually thick that morning. It blanketed even the lower level of the theme park. Nevertheless, we went to the Spinner. Only to see that it was closed for maintanence. WHY YOU CLOSE LA I WANT SIT ON YOU LOL. Even the Flying Coaster was closed. :/ Darn it! Should have went on that last week.

So we waited in line for the smaller coaster. Forgot the name of it. Fun fact: It was Weng's first time on a coaster. We cheered him on! Whee. Could hear the screaming from the guys' cart ahead of ours.

It began to drizzle a bit, but nothing that would stop any rides.

The fog is still thick as ever. Visibility dropped to 10m at most.

Camwhore moment. Hahaha.

Managed to convince the guys to sit on the Pirate Haunted House thingamajig. HAHAHA. While waiting for them, spent time doing the exact same thing I did waiting for my highschool mates the week before.

SEAHORSE WHY YOU NO LET ME WIN YOU?! Garhhh. Dammit la. :/ I want you larhh. Haiz. Don't ask why. Ngeh heh he. *innocent smile*

Corkscrew next. I think I sat on it too much. Only the first drop really mattered. Everything else was super meh already. Didn't feel anything at all. LOL.

Sorry, no can do. Ain't getting on the kids bumper cars. LOL. There's a max height for this ride.

Haxxorx.

Sling shot! :O Sat it out again. Haha.

Sat on the "Flying Dragon" next, all 'cept for Jason and Chern, who opted for the Go Karts. Only the turns were any fun. Other than that it was a whole lotta mehhh. I don't get why do people scream so much on this ride. Nonsense la, when they scream. Best part of the ride? It took us through First World Plaza, directly above KFC. We were blasted with the essense of fried chicken. Instantly made all of us hungry after the ride.

That means it's time for lunch. Sure enough, everybody wanted KFC now, thanks to the smell. So we all regrouped and went for nomnoms.

More pictures.

Sat on the "Antique Car" next. Noisy, shaky. But good picture taking opportunities la.

Read the sign yo'

Whee.

Had to get back early, so we called it quits then. Picked up our luggage then went back.

Cable car! AGAIN.

The mist was just ridiculous. Felt like we were going into the great unknown. Zhi Shan was saying how a dinosaur would just pop out from the mist and nom on us. Hahah.

Reached the bus station at 4:30. Luckily there's a bus at 5, with just 8 seats left. We sapu the remaining seats.

The rest of the journey was spent napping, or listening to music.

Super tired now.

Kinoc, out.
