2012 In Review

Wow, it was actually almost 2 months since I last blogged? It certainly hasn't felt like it. But there you have it, the last post is signed off in the end of October. Then again in hindsight it feels like a millenia ago since I last entered the blogsphere. In my defence, I was preoccupied with life in general. Between the procrastination and laziness, I just couldn't find it in me to write about anything. Guess my life's just been rather dull these few weeks.

As with all my other annual review posts, I shall try my best to start from the very.. well start, of 2012. Excuse me while I go stalk myself on Facebook. *after a few moments*

The year kicked off with a trip the gang has been planning (have we?) down to Malacca. The pier's scene are still vividly in my memory. The ocean, the lights in the distance, and of course the songs being played in the background.

And then there were the meet ups among old friends. People from college I haven't seen in awhile, namely the one and only Zhatlui Qiang Bi who was the main reason we gathered.

With the coming of February, it also signified one thing. The second year of my life as a pharmacy undergrad. Coming into the second year, I signed up as a Student Guide for this year's Transition Camp, a 3 day orientation camp for this year's intake.

The posts for the camp can be found here, here and here.

My kids! So to speak. Hello G1 peeps! Glad I signed up, met a few interesting people in this year's intake as well as gaining an insight as to how the camp would be, from a different perspective. I had thought before that being a guide was all fun and games, but there was so much more to it, the planning and cooperation. My fellow guides sure made it a thoroughly enjoyable experience. :)

So the first few months of the year then passed by quietly. The months of March and April saw me through a couple of changes. Doors have been closed and doors opened, much to my pleasant surprise. Some unexpected, some welcomed.

I found myself a part of the newly introduced "Buddy System", a move by MUPhaS to help foster relations between seniors and juniors in B.Pharm. As our numbers are pretty small, we were a pretty tightly knit group, but only people within their respective years. So this little initiative was going to change that, help build the bridge between student of different years.

So I found myself part of yet another group. :D As for the Buddy System in general, felt like pretty much any other outing.

I guess the most startling change was yet to come. I'll let the following image speak for themselves.

To this day, I still don't know how I ended up here. But I took a step, and never looked back. (Psst, I still suck though) Still very much a beginner at dancing, being held back by my nature of procrastinating everything and anything I do. But hey, everyone starts somewhere. Especially after I sprained my foot and was unable to walk properly for a whole month, really dampened my spirit. Note to self, no more dangerous parkour / breakdancing stunts until I know I have a soft landing.

But thanks to dance (and joining MDFC), I met these bunch of... people (for lack of a better word). :D

I guess fate played a hand in bringing us together. :)

With the end of exams, another semester comes to a close.

First time in my life I ate crab. Yes, I kid you not.

Oh right.. Speaking change.

I seem to have found myself an uncanny new hobby. NERF!

This time round, I decided to join into the Monash Annual Ball hype. :)

There certainly wasn't a lack of anticipation building up towards the event.

Having attended Pharmacy Night 2011, and AUSMAT Grad Night 2010. This would make it my 3rd consecutive year attending prom (or a similar event). One wonders why am I not bored yet, then again I probably am. But hey, it's not everyday you get to see your friends dressed to the nines. Not everyday that I get to as well! :D Might as well make use of the vest hanging around in my cupboard.

Well, a year wouldn't be the same without these:

2012 birthdays! Everyone's only getting OLDER now. :P

Including my very own surprises. :) Yes I'm getting old..

Among other events,

We're so proud of you General Shang! This year's MPAC Disney Production was THE BOMB.

Found myself part of a ZOO.

Went on trips with the 6221 zoo members. Melacca, Ipoh (didn't blog about this), among others. :)

The completely random moments.

Some things don't change alright..

In my defence, I'm a "Second-row sleeper". It's not my fault I'm cursed with narcolepsy!

As the year draws to a close,

Another year stands to take its place.

We bid adieu to the people we know, and meet new people as time passes.

Well if you noticed, I started getting lazy towards the end. After all, a picture speaks a thousand words. So why bore you with my senseless ranting, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

In summary, 2012 has indeed been the pretty eventful year. For the supposed apocalyptic year, it hasn't been all too bad. I've met some incredible people year, and forged so many new friendships, some stronger than others. Did a lot of crazy things I thought I'd never do, and found myself walking down the same road I've taken so many times before.

Because no matter what I say, some things about me will never change. Going to various lengths, taking note of the little things. Somehow or rather, everything's been nothing short of confusing. But I'll hold out, I always do. For I know where I stand.

Going through various highs and lows, I realize I still have a lot to learn. For someone who's 20, I may still be very immature for my age. The coming year marks my 21st year in this life, and opens my door to adulthood. I suppose I'm looking forward to what the new year brings, and what Lady Luck has in store for me.

So here's to a great year passed, and an even better one on its way. :)
