Day 27 : Monash Open Day

Saturday - May 22, 2010. Monash Open Day.

As the title and first line implies, I went over to the Open Day event at Monash University, Sunway. Thought I'd get some extra info on possible future choices on which degree I should persue to further my studies. Me? Do that? Really? Okay fine, I just wanted to get out of the house, and to get a slightly deeper insight into pharmacy.
Got up around 8. On a Saturday! Oh noez, there goes precious sleeping time. Got prepared and left the house around 9 with my family. The Open Day starts at around 10. So had some time for a meal.

A shop somewhere within the Sunway vincinity.

Dry Pan Mee! It's been almost 8 years since I last ate this at the shop I went to this morning.

BARLI AISSSSS!

Hmm.. Okay, where do I head first?

Went over to the Computing info counter first. Got to know a bit more about my back-up plan. BITS or smth liddat is more towards the practical application of knowledge of computers while Computer Science leans more toward theoretical knowledge and reseach, logic, maths, stuff liddat. Never knew that. :D!

EDIT : Library.

A directory.

Went over to ask about pharmacy courses after that. I got quite the amount of information. TER 90!!!! Garh, I seriously gotta aim high and put in the effort to attain such a score in order to qualify for the BASIC entry requirements for pharmacy. Am I too late? :(

Went for the Campus tour after that, didn't manage to catch the talk on IT. The interest in computing is slowly coming back.

A first year business student took us on the tour. And man, Monash is HUGEEEE! 3 buildings, more than floors each. Quote Itianne "Imagine if the lift DIES" :S!! So we first took a tour of the school of arts.

View from the fourth floor.

It's a LOOOOOONG way down.

Took the skybridge over to the School of Health Sciences. But then the floor for Pharmacy was LOCKED! :( And apparently students from all 3 schools very seldomly mingle with each other and hardly ever go into other schools. Which is why our guide (A first year business school student) didn't really manage to get into the School of Health Sciences. Nevertheless, she was very helpful. :)

So we went back down to the ground floor, bumped into some Medicine students who then took over the tour. Went around the Medicine floor now.

A simulator thingy. Judging by the look of it, it costs ALOT.

Walked around quite alot. Saw some pretty neat stuff, like that simulator thing. Some dummies, a heartbeat simulator, classrooms. Sure looked pretty uhm.. Hardworking-ish. I have no idea bout any other way to put it.

And so after that, the tour ended as we went back to the uhm.. Open air foyer? Or smth liddat.

Now isn't THAT a FAMILIAR sight? :DDDD

This vending machine looked so out of place. At some corner :S

BALLOOOOOONS!!!

That's bout it. Had a pretty good time, found out some useful info. A day well spent, I might say.

Cough cough. Many dim sum in shorts. COUGH. ;)
