Instagram

Today I shall attempt something entire different. This ain't my usual writing style but I'll give it a shot. If you don't try, you never know.

Lately I've been preoccupied with an application on my iPhone, Instagram.

This is the application logo once you download it.

Why am I writing a blog post about this application? Well, it's because it's actually pretty awesome and addictive. Credits to Cornelia (who has her own post regarding this app) for introducing it to me. So what exactly makes this whole app interesting? Well, it isn't exactly an entertainment app but it's more to a photography aspect. Put simply, it's a must get if you're one of those people into photography or just love to take pictures.

Now, the details that make the app interesting.

For starters, it's a photo editing application. Within the app are around 12 preset filters - 11 if you leave out the unedited version - which make photo editing a breeze for iPhone users. Well, not exactly. You don't actually get into those detailed editing and whatnot. Its value lies in it's simplicity and how user-friendly it is.

You start off by taking a photo or by selecting one from your gallery. Then, you are prompted to choose 1 of the 12 filters available at your fingertips. All that's left to do then is just select a Caption, if you wish, and click "Share". Simple enough, no?

These are the filters available. Each edits your photos in a unique manner.

They don't actually change or distort your pictures but just change the colouring and contrast in it.

Some sample shots I stole borrowed from the internet.

Oh right, one more thing.

The whole application functions just like Twitter. You can follow people, and people can follow you. You can link it to your actual Twitter account or even Facebook and whatnot. The only difference is, instead of tweeting, you share photos. In short, twitter for photographers.

Well, I reiterate. If you like photography and you love sharing it with the world, GET THIS APPLICATION. (If you have an iPhone of course)

Written from the standpoint of an amateur photographer who has absolutely no experience editing photos prior to this application.
