The Season of the Witch is Here

"Hello... children." In a creepy woman tone.

You know, there's just something about witches. It's not really describable really, yet there's just some sort of lingering fear, or creeping sense of malice whenever that word is uttered. Being a person at the end of his adolescence, I can't say that I fear witches all that much. But back in my childhood, I always used to hear stories about how nasty or gnarly witches were.
What springs to mind when you think of the word witch?

If you're thinking old ladies, long crooked noses, broken teeth, bad breath, pointed hats with ragged clothing, cliched eerie background music with lighting flashing in the background, then you and I are on the same page. I guess there's only society and its stereotypical attitude towards that word to blame for the widely accepted imagery of witches that we all know today.

To me, I guess the scariest thing about a witch would be...

The witch herself.

I mean "COME ON!" Imagine waking up in the middle of the night at 2am and THAT is staring straight at your face. Who wouldn't just faint on the spot. Of course, that is in line with what we presume witches to be today.

If looks could kill, that'd be OVERkill.

Well, of course looks aren't the only things within a witch's arsenal. They've got all sorts of evil concoctions within their grasps that they could use to achieve whatever goal they set out to do.
I guess that brings us to what a witch actually symbolizes. A being of pure evil filled with nothing but envy and hatred. The very thought that such people can exist sends chill down my spines. Witches literally feed off people's despair. Still not getting the picture? Well, let's just say, those kind of people can turn from...

This.

To this.

Now are you following me? Of course, that is a witch portrayed in the Disney movie, Snow White in which the queen turns an evil ugly hag witch and attempts to kill Snow White with a poisoned apple.

Ah yes, of course! Poisons, evil potions. Another thing that slips into your mind when it's thinking about witches. It's a disturbing thought that one would utilize potions in such a way. One sip and you're *ackked* before you know it.

Magic, or black magic in this case. Yet another witch-like quality. Imagine one who possesses the power to manipulate nature. To have fire, water, wind and earth at your disposal. You'd be able to subjugate others and make them to your bidding. This creates fear, and led to the massive witch hunt back in the earlier history of witchcraft where people were actually hunted down for witchery and magic.

GIVE ME.... YOUR SOUL!

Let's not forget their evil laughter. High pitched, eerie, repetitive usage of the syllable "ha" before fading away into the darkness, ring any bells? "AHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA" Personally, a witch's laugh is THE most creepiest laugh that I've ever heard. It's a whole league above your average evil overload "HAHAHA" laugh.

Thankfully though, all they ever do are,

Brewing the same old nasty slimy potions on a flame with no progress except the occasional bubble popping up.

Fly around aimlessly in the night sky seemingly invisible to everyone and everything flying past them. They also seem to possess dexterity than their looks suggests.

Oh yea, and they just sit around bewildered screaming at their cats.

That's really what's scary about witches. But what's scarier is what they're becoming in our society.

Teenage girl series. :O

Gone are the days where witches were old hags in pointed hats. Now they're young chicks able to cast magic in a very redundant way through reciting lines I swear are made up on the spot.

Bring back the old witches this season, with Season of the Witch.

Season of the witch

It's been awhile since I wrote a post like this.
